Leaving Home for a House

I had to figure out how to transform thick 2x4x8 wooden pieces into thin strips that could naturally bend. It required a lot of effort and perseverance to complete. The piece itself is a reflection on the experience of immigration, particularly the journey of leaving one's homeland behind. The representation of a boat speaks to the makeshift nature of these voyages, with the negative space highlighting the precariousness of the situation. Even when on the water, the struggles of immigrants are evident in the harshness of the ocean.
